We wished to add some web-based, student-generated presentations from the past three years in order to showcase the variety of work they have been creating as more web tools have made their way into the curriculum. More students are asking for the kinds of assessments where they can create content and display it to a broader audience over the Internet:

First is a Powerpoint presentation on the twelve Olympians that was uploaded to Youtube as part of an extra credit assignment (2009):



Second is a web-based Jeopardy review activity, and formative assessment, for Salman Rushdie's novel, Haroun and the Sea of Stories (2010):

These presentations were made by students who did not have access to Web 2.0 multimedia tools at their fingertips during the academic day, but they were very interested in using web-based tools to demonstrate their understandings of the course material. Imagine what our future students will be able to create with daily access to an iPad, Google sites accounts, and a Blackboard account, all of which will expose them both efficiently and effectively to the resources necessary to carry out these types of performance tasks that will invite them to collaboratively create something that doesn't exist. Current and future students alike can benefit from these web-based products which serve as models of the finished product and review material for quizzes, tests and final examinations. We will continue to model these presentations for students in the future in order to guide and inspire them to create authentic and purposeful web content to better serve curriculum and instruction.
